Last Week's Frugality
Hello Dear Readers! So sorry this post is late--life is happening all around me it seems. Busy, busy, busy! Well, here goes!
I packed my lunch 4 out of 5 days last week.
The shower bucket is still in use saving water.
While the company that I work for didn't meet goals for our gainsharing this year, they gave us a bonus instead! Totally unexpected windfall but oh so needed for taxes! I was so stressed trying to figure out how to pay our state taxes, just about worried myself sick! Prayers are answered.
I made 4 cakes this week! The donations for them came in very handy as well. I am currently meeting my yearly goal of increasing our monthly income by $200 per month. I really didn't want to start making cakes again but.... needs must so I am back into the cake business! I have a cake booked this weekend and another in May. Doing whatever it takes!
Our Meijer had cake mix on sale so I stocked up--bought 25 mixes at 90 cents each!
We had one meatless meal this week. I really want to increase this to two or three times per week. With warmer weather coming, I'm thinking pasta salads loaded with veggies. Mmmm good!
I was able to add 4 jars of applesauce to my stash, along with 4 bags of the Chicken fried steak by Tyson. I just love these! Both were buy one, get one free at our local Meijer.
I am still playing the Light Nazi--gotta get that electric bill under control.
I found fresh mozzarella cheese reduced. That along with the tomatoes on sale made a fantastic Caprese salad for supper one night. This is a splurge but a great treat for us. I won't buy the fresh cheese at regular price but try to find it marked down and get it every so often. We love this salad!

I was able to pick up 8 half pints of heavy cream on the reduced rack! Cannot wait to make homemade butter with it.
I signed up for 3 free samples and received a shampoo sample.

Last Week's Frugality
This week I packed my lunch all 5 days! Yippee!
I was able to buy 10 cans of the Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup (I know it is not good for you but I love it ) for $.19 a can! This was with a store sale and a printable coupon! I couldn't print the coupon anymore so I was able to get 10 more cans for just $.39 per can which is still a good deal!
Ketchup was $.88 cents for a 24 oz bottle so I picked up 10 bottles to add to my pantry stash!
I made 2 sheet pans of homemade granola with the bulk oatmeal from Sam's Club. We love it as cereal with milk or on yogurt. MMM mmm good!
I used bread ends and leftover buns to make bread crumbs for the pantry. I put them into the oven to dry while the granola was baking. Saved on electric by doing 2 things at once!
I have unplugged several electrical things around the house in hopes of reducing the bill. Hang drying towels still and the light Nazi lives on!!
My bucket is still in the shower catching waste water.
I made $40 in advertising on my other blog! It isn't much but it is a start! I also have orders for 4 cakes in the next week so that will help with my goal of earning $200 extra income per month. I am getting closer and closer to my goal!
Also, I had to spend money in order to make money this week. We have a huge, empty barn just sitting behind our house. I had gravel poured behind it to be able to drive in and out in order to rent the space for RV parking or boat storage. I am hoping to start a new income stream this summer. Just need to get the gravel raked out and then advertise. I am so hoping to add $50-$75 a month to our income by renting it out. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I have been looking over my homeowners policy and am questioning whether or not to reduce it. The replacement cost of our home is almost $100,000 more than it is valued at. Is this too much? Do I dare to reduce the policy or can I with a mortgage? Help dear Readers! If you can weigh in on this I would appreciate it. I just don't understand why the replacement value is so high.

Last Week's Frugality
Last week I packed my lunch all 5 days!! Yeah for me! I have to keep it up!
I was able to pick up 20 cans of tuna for my stash at a great price--loss leader. Our local grocery
had 24 oz. bottles of Dawn(I have tried homemade and every cheap brand but I love Dawn best) for just $1.99 per bottle. I bought 6! I also found Planter's Peanut Butter for $1.40 per jar and added 6 to my stash.
I have been garden dreaming lately, so I was inspired by Pinterest to spray paint 2 of my Goodwill bowling balls for faux gazing balls for the yard. My cousin gave me the paint so this was a cheap project!
I also spray painted a lamp I found at the Goodwill last month. It was hot pink, but now it is black and it looks great in my living room!
Another item sold on E-bay this week so I am $5.00 ahead because of that. Every little bit helps I guess.
We are still catching water in the shower bucket and using it to flush.
My Momma treated us to KFC last week! It has been quite a while since I have tasted the Colonels secret herbs and spices let me tell you! Thanks Mom!
I finally found a pair of brand new work shoes at the Goodwill Saturday! They were $6
but I received the 10% senior discount. So $5.40 for a pair of brand new shoes! Score!! If you remember, I had to buy the gel insoles because my old shoes were so worn on the inside! But I have managed to make do until I found new ones! Good things do come to those who wait!
I was able to get my cabbage chopped and frozen for future pots of soup!
We have been eating as much food from the freezer as possible. I need to get it cleaned out for future garden bounty! I am thinking positively!
I just about had a heart attack when I received my electric bill. Most of you know I have been playing Light Nazi and have been hang drying my towels. I thought this would help but my electric bill was $306.00 last month! That is right, $306.00!!
We use propane for heat and hot water and it was still $306.00! The bill said the time period was longer than last month, and the cost went up. Boy did it go up. This is unacceptable.....totally unacceptable! I am still working on a plan to reduce it, but if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them! $306.00 for February--I am gobsmacked! Just think how much it would have been without hanging the towels and turning off the lights!
Well, that's about it for me. How have you been saving money this past week?
